Samsung LN37B650 LCD TV Review

LCD TV manufacturers, in their aim of conquering the market, are making models of different sizes. Not everybody needs a huge screen HDTV, and that is why smaller models, such as Samsung LN37B650, are perfect for smaller rooms, where you just want to watch your favorite shows. This 37 inch LCD TV, although little, is a very powerful piece of equipment. Performance

Samsung LN37B650 has great image quality, despite the fact that its black levels are not as good as seen on the B750. A great contribution is brought by the accurate colors, as well by the noise reduction capabilities, and the dejudder processing that enhances the display of high definition content.

Black Levels

The level of blacks on Samsung LN37B650 could use some improvement, as they are not as inky as seen on other LCD TVs. It seems, however, that Samsung learnt the lesson well, and the B750 series displays better blacks than the previous one. Shadow detail has to suffer, as well, so black levels are not this series’ strongest point.

Color Accuracy

Color decoding for the B650 series is very good, and, accompanied by great primary and secondary colors, it does a very good job. Because of this reason, the colors look accurate, crisp and vivid, and the entire watching experience is greatly enhanced. The only not so good thing that could be mentioned here is the bluish tinge of color the dark scenes receive, but this is closely related to the black levels not being as accurate as needed.

Video Processing

Because of great dejudder processing capabilities, video processing is a breeze for Samsung LN37B650. High definition content is displayed without a hitch, no matter if it is the 1080p or 1080i type of video source involved. Blurring is reduced, and watching fast moving sequences is not as much of a bother, as in the past, with other LCD TVs.

Bright Light

Unfortunately, Samsung LN37B650 has no anti-reflective qualities, whatsoever, which means that you will not be able to watch TV in a room that is very well lit, without getting any reflections. Especially reflections from dark scenes can be deemed as troublesome, and, all in all, it is not recommended to watch your favorite programs under such circumstances.

Standard Definition

Noise reduction is very well designed for this model and this series, which means a great deal for the quality of the standard definition content rendered on the screen. Artifacts such as jaggies or moire are eliminated, and the overall image looks crisp and detailed.

Conclusion

Samsung LN37B650 is a 37 inch LCD TV with a lot of great qualities. It has 1080p resolution, it can handle both high definition and standard definition with ease, and it has great connectivity options. Although the image quality is not the greatest, it is still very good, and this particular LCD TV can be a great purchase.
