The models that are part of Panasonic X1 series of plasma TVs are from the entry-level class. They have 720p native resolution and generally unimpressive specifications and performance. However, for those who are looking for a cheap plasma TV, and can live without exceptional performance, this TV is a good choice. As a matter of fact, though X1 models are not comparable to HDTVs from mid-end or high-end series, they do perform quite well when compared to other entry-level models. Regardless of the size, models from X1 series outperform both Panasonic U1 (even though these are 1080p TVs) and especially C1 series. They also have better black levels than Samsung’s B450 low-end series, though when it comes to color accuracy they don’t do as well.
Among the most popular HDTV sold on the market nowadays, we find 50 inch models, and, if we look for a cheap one, the choices are generally narrowed down to a few performers. Panasonic TC-P50X1 is one of them, and it is a low entry Panasonic plasma TV, aimed at the budget conscious with a need for a good quality product. While, at first glance, there is little to differentiate this 50 inch plasma from its C1 counterpart, the truth is that Panasonic TC-P50X1 is better. For instance, while both series share the same 720p resolution, not the same thing can be said about the contrast ratio (twice as big in the X1 series), and the anti-glare screen, found in Panasonic TC-P50X1, but not in C1 models. The latter gives this particular model an upper hand when compared to U1 series, which, again, does not come with an anti-reflective coating.
Panasonic has taken its part of the market for low entry plasma models with series such as X1, U1 and C1. While one cannot expect to see in a 42 inch plasma TV like Panasonic TC-P42X1, all the features that are to be found only in mid range or high entry models, the general set of features this product comes equipped with does not disappoint. This Panasonic plasma TV uses the panel the company implemented last year, and it sports 720p resolution, like C1 series, but it has a superior contrast ratio, standing on the same level with the U1 series. To all these, it should be added a competitive price, which makes of Panasonic TC-P42X1 a reasonable buy. Copyright © 2008-2012 Best HDTV Screen. All Rights reserved.
